About Llynfi

Giving a name to a lifelong interest was the hardest part. At the time, I wanted a name that would leave my options open - knit, dye, felt, weave.......

The house we lived in then was next to the River Llynfi, in Powys. It's a beautiful and peaceful little river, feeding into the Wye, and is an SSSI site - home to otters, kingfishers, crayfish. Quite special. So Llynfi Textiles it was.

It started with Angora rabbits, then, as mill after mill closed and getting the fibre turned into yarn became impossible, in 2004 I turned to using organic wool. Then Emily, at the time studying Surface Pattern at Swansea, decided to get involved too. As her main interest was in sewing and dress design, I concentrated on knit.
So here we are - two of us designing, knitting and sewing our very own small collection of womenswear, with the focus on classic, comfortable, cosy - but still stylish, interesting and flattering to a wide range of shapes and ages.

We maintain our use of British wool wherever we can - 100% British (not the Wool Board's definition of British which is a minimum of 50%). We use fabrics produced wherever possible in Wales. We are certified by the Soil Association for natural dyeing and knit. See more on our website: www.llynfitextiles.co.uk
